USPA NEWS - Qualifying for the prestigious soccer world cup tournament is not a small achievement in Africa. If qualifying for the soccer world cup is by any means an indicator of a nations soccer prowess, then Western Africa, as a region, has the most talent.
Of the 4 previous world cup tournaments, West Africa has produced more teams that have qualified for the world cup soccer tournament than any other region in Africa. 5 teams have represented West Africa in the last 4 tournaments. The continents 4 other regions have been represented by only 6 teams making it an average of about 2 teams for each of the other regions.

It is no surprise that of all the famous soccer players from Africa, more than half of them originate from West Africa. If the international stage is a true reflection of a nation's prowess, then West Africa is rightfully at the heart of African soccer since it has more representation on the global soccer arena. Time is always a better reflector of achievements and hence time will reflect the achievements of West Africa as a soccer powerhouse of Africa.
